Story

Hey Everyone,

You've probably heard im running the Virgin London Marathon in Apr 2012 which is why you're here! Ive set up this a/c so you dont have to find me if you'd like to sponsor me.

Im running for the 'Cambridge Veterinary School Trust' which was set up in 1983 to continually provide new equipment to the state-of-the-art Queen's Veterinary School Hospital. This allows the hospital to maintain the incredibly high standards of patient welfare and treatment options that simply cannot be considered in general practice for lil poochie. One of the cool things they've acheived so far is the first veterinary specific cancer therapy unit in Europe - with their funky linear particle accelerator for whapping that pesky malignant mast cell tumour, the responses ive seen to treatment are simply incredible. Donations through the trust have also allowed the recent installation of the Small Animal Surgical Suite, Equine Diagnostic Unit and the Farm Animal Medicine Centre. All of this has allowed advancement in the field of Veterinary Medicine which translates to better healthcare and subsequently happier animals!

Please visit their site if you want to know any more: http://ucvst.vet.cam.ac.uk/default.html

In the past i have raised over £1500 for various charities: 'Walk The Walk' (a breast cancer charity), 'The Horse Trust' (formerly 'The Home Of Rest For Horses') and PDSA (for pets in need of vets!) - through skydiving, running events and rushing around with collection pots whilst wearing my PJs! Ive always been a supporter of the Vet School Trust, but other than being one half of the comedic double-act auctioneers for their 'Auction of Promises', have never raised any significant amount of dosh for them!

Those who know me can tell you that I never shirk from a challenge and ALWAYS push my physical and mental limits every time i train. Its not going to be easy... being a final year vet student doesnt exactly give you all the time in the world to train, so every spare moment i get will be to pound the tarmac for a few more miles in preparation for April! Despite having a busted ankle (for 6 months!!), im aiming to complete my debut 26.2-miler in under 3:15:00. Im just praying for the foot god to give me a lucky break (not like that)... and the money raised will only spur me on!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
