Story

On Saturday 8th May 2010 I am going to Newcastle to Marsden Grotto to do a zipslide thats 50 metres high and 320 metres long in aid of Christians Against Poverty(CAP).

CAP is a charity that was set up after the founder found himself into debt and didn't have anyone to turn to. Once he paid off his debts, he set up CAP so that anyone who found themselves in debt could have somewhere to go to be able to talk to about their debts. CAP's purpose is to provide essential money management skill and friendship.

Money management is provided through taking control of all debts so that the client no longer has to deal with creditors or pay each bill seperately. They simply pay an amount to CAP and CAP distribute this money according to the arrangements that CAP, the client and the creditor have set up. Even if it's only paying the debts off a penny at a time its better then nothing!

CAP provide friendship by introducing the client to other clients in debt via social events. CAP also provide friendship through a key worker who visits the client regularly and takes all bills from them but also takes them for a coffee here and there or a bite to eat when the cupboards are bare.

CAP was recently praised on BBC 5 for doing a fantastic job by the politicians and has also featured in the channel 4 program where a rich family sponser a poverty striken family. However the reason for this page is because the word "Christian" is in the name the government will not provide any grants or donations to the charity.

All money raised via this page goes directly to CAP.
