Thanks for taking the time to visit my 2013 JustGiving page.

This year, fingers crossed, i'm hoping to be in a reasonable physical state to attempt the Manchester Marathon (having been ruled out by injury last year).

As with last year, i wanted a local charity to benefit from the local event, and so i will be shuffling round the very familiar roads and streets of my fair borough on behalf of Stockdales.

Stockdales is a charity based in Manchester dedicated to improving life for adults and children with learning and physical disabilities. They’re not a big charity, but they provide invaluable support and facilities, from residential to community-based activities.

I chose Stockdales not just because of the excellent services they provide, but there is a distant personal link.

A long time ago, not long after we had moved to Sale, my mum worked in the kitchen at the Lil Stockdale Centre (as it used to be known) on Harboro Rd. My brother and I used to spend time at the centre after school, during holidays etc. It was a real eye-opener, and something that I reflect on whenever I have run past the centre. I don’t know why I haven’t done it before now, but on one of those recent runs, I thought it was about time I did something for them.

So here I am. My 2013 marathon charity is Stockdales.

I hope you can spare some loose change during these austere times…if not, no worries, come along and line the streets of Trafford on Sunday April 28th and cheer us on.
