Everest base camp trek · 11 December 2012

Nepal is a land of mountains: both awe inspiring peaks and the barriers that stand in the way of children’s schooling and women’s aspirations. Classrooms in the Clouds supports education in the Solukhumbu by building safe classrooms, training female teachers, and tackling gender inequality.

Story

I am carrying out this 17-day trek starting 1st april 2013 in aid of a great charity named classroom in the clouds. the charity helps renovate and rebuild existing schools – as well as training new teachers and providing school materials. Since its establishment the team at Classroom in the Clouds has dedicated all its efforts to developing a school in the village of Lukla, adding two extra rooms onto its existing primary school. It has also equipped both classrooms with furnishings and provided computers for use in the IT room. After the success of the Lukla project, the charity is now building another school in the Solu region. I feel that every child has the right to an education that many of us take for granted. I am also spending two weeks volunteering at the school in lukla after the trek.
