Sleep Out 2014 - London · 6 November 2014 ·
So I turned 27 this month, and as a kind of belated quarter life crisis (perhaps a little too optimistic at aiming to live until 100) I’ve decided to help the homeless a lot more - you know giving back and all that.
I tried to start on this crusade by offering a homeless guy called Tony the chance to come and enjoy a slap up meal with me at McDonalds, thinking he’d be pleased that someone has finally bothered to give him the time of day and that he’d welcome a friendly chat with open arms. It turns out Tony had other ideas, and whilst he'd appreciate some hot food, he doesn’t eat McDonalds. After a quick discussion of the various options Holborn had to offer I ventured to a Lebanese place to get him something that “isn’t too spicy”. 5 minutes later I return with a Chicken Shawarma wrap, portion of chips and a full fat coke, angry at myself for basically buying him half a McDonalds meal, just minus the burger.
Whilst the experience with Tony was a pleasant one, I still feel I have more to give, and this November Centrepoint are having their annual Sleep Out which gives the opportunity for plebs like me to sleep rough for a night and help raise some money for a fantastic cause.
Every little would help.
Thanks,
Chris.
