Story

Update*****

Race done! Came fourth out of 225! (Second in my age group, 40-44!)

Being a little competitive, I set myself a target time of 1hr 15min for the 400m swim, 20k bike and 5k run so was more than happy to finish in 1hr 7mins and 51 secs.

Doing this triathlon has definitely given me the bug for more and I can heartily recommend it as a way to get fit!

Although, if my experience is anything to go by, practice swimming in a lake a lot. It’s cold and horrible – despite the wetsuit!

The charity page is still open if you wish to contribute. If only for the fact that I managed to overtake Lawrence Dallaglio during my bike ride!

Thanks once again for all your support.

Training is going well - despite treading on something razor sharp whilst attempting open air swimming in the sea off sunny skegness!

My legs ache from running and cycling within 24 hours - let alone in the same event!

Transition training consists of several You've been framed moments when trying to put feet into cycling shoes and cycle at the same time. Any spectators of the triathlon that fancy £250 and a quip from Harry Hill, just watch for the tall bloke with no co-ordination and bits of cycling equipment strewn over the first 200m of the course....

Thanks for visiting my 'Do a lot for charity, don't like to talk about it' page

I'm doing my first Triathlon in September, it's called Tri for life. Last year's event raised £140,000 - I'm looking for just £350 of that by swimming, cycling and running my way round the rowing course for the London 2012 Olympics near Eton.

Any sponsorship would be great, if you want to see what charities the money goes to please visit

Harvey Selby dreamt up Tri for life, an event for all the family; fun, energetic but with a serious goal, to raise money for those in need. Although Harvey passed away in 2008, he lived long enough to see the inaugural event. His vision was an important one, one now being continued
