Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I was sat enjoying a nice glass of Rioja with my mate Martin, seeing in the New Year this year, when he mentioned that he and another friend of ours were planning on cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats in the Summer.  Being officially overweight and keen to have an incentive to do something about it I said that I'd like to join in and started buying cycling equipment and cutting down on food and drink intake.  Some four months later I've shaved 1.5 stones of weight and am up to cycling 80 miles each day on two consequtive days!

So, on Thursday June 2nd, I and my two other friends, Martin and Rob, (we all worked together on the same department at the Pru some 22 years ago) will set off from the Lands End sign post on our bicycles.  We aim to arrive at the other end of Britain, John O'Groats, some twelve days later, providing our bikes / legs / bums / friendship survive the experience!

We have no support vehicles and so are carrying everything we might need, unless it can be bought en-route.  We're not doing the camping thing, we intend to lord it up in B&Bs!  The trouble is that in order to keep the weight down we're having to wash essential clothing as we go!!

It seemed a good chance to raise some money for each of our chosen charities.  I've decided to support the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre where my wife, Claire, attends regularly to get much needed treatments.  The centre is solely funded by charitable donations.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.  Many Thanks. :O)

Latest Update:

Close, but no Cigar.  I managed to cycle 850 miles in 11 days.  The missing day was spent either sat on the big white telephone, asleep, or on a train catching the other two up.  I was struck down by food poisoning on the penultimate day which left me no options to fully complete my goal.  I'm still pretty chuffed with what I did, and am really, really grateful for all the generous donations everyone has given in support.  A BIG than you from me.

Check out my blog for the gory details!
