In February this year I was diagnosed with a blood cancer of the immune system called Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. 

One in two of us will get cancer at some point in our lives, and being a Firefighter means I am twice as likely to get it as the rest of the population due to the continued exposure to hazardous chemicals. So it shouldn’t be much of a surprise. 

There are many Firefighters across the UK who are suffering ill health due to the work we do, and the Firefighters charity is there to support them.
