Santiago da Cpmpostela Trek · 4 April 2006

We are a national charity working to transform the hopes and happiness of young people facing abuse, exploitation and neglect. We support them through their most serious life challenges and we campaign tirelessly for the big social changes that will improve the lives of those who need hope most.

Story

This walk will be for us a celebration of the excellent recovery I have made from last year's TIA. We have long wanted to do the last part of this Pilgrimage route having done the first part many years ago. Taking part in this organised trek seemed the ideal way to realise this ambition and raise money for a very worthy cause as well. We will have our luggage carried for us but will have to walk 15 miles on most days so it will be a serious challenge for us.

The Children's Society is England's leading charity dedicated to rescuing children on the streets. Every year 100,000 children run away from home. Of these 1 in 6 will end up sleeping rough, 1 in 8 will have to beg for food, and an estimated 5,000 will become victims of child prostitution. Over 2/3 of runaways are not reported missing. Perhaps this reveals why they 'd rather be on the streets than at home.

Chris & I have paid the cost of this trek ourselves so all sponsor money will benefit the Children's Society rather than us. So please be as generous as you can.
