The renovation of the 110-year-old ship, the Chauncy Maples, will bring basic healthcare to 500,000 lakeside people in Malawi.

To raise money to renovate the Chauncy Maples, the Gentlemen of Shipping have agreed to participate in a netball match against some of the finest, fleet-of-foot players the Ladies of Shipping have to offer.

Frustrated by football?  Dejected about the rugby?  More likely to win a Grandslam with Andy Murray on the Wii than at Wimbledon? If so then come and see a true clash of the Reed Smith sporting Titans at 17:00 on Monday 22nd November, next to Liverpool Street Station (St. Botolph's Church).

Beyond the simple opportunity to command the netball court, the Ladies have offered an element of fancy dress to encourage the Gentlemen and their supporters to part with some of their hard-earned cash.  The thresholds are as follows:

£300 raised will see the Ladies play in Day-glo 1980's or 118 118 outfits

£400 raised and the Ladies undertake to play in nurses' outfits.

Any element of fancy dress will be for the duration of the game (40 minutes of non-stop action).

As with all these things, there is a certain quid pro quo.  The Ladies are also running a "Just Giving" page, whereby the Gentleman, if they can raise £300, will play in wigs, while for £400 the Gentlemen have agreed to play in wigs and skirts.

So let's not be outdone here, and please dig deep and give what you can.  As fun as the game will be, we are supporting a very worthwhile cause, one which will make a difference to thousands of lives and be appreciated by families and communities for years to come.
