Earlier this year I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Many other great sportsmen have also been affected by this such as Derren Fletcher and Sir Steve Redgrave. Like me they too try to continue their great work in the world of sport.
I am lucky as I can cope very well with Ulcerative Colitis and it has only stopped me twice so far in life. Once was where I was unable to buy a 3am kebab just in case it resulted in a horrible toilet session the next morning but more importantly it stopped me donating to the Anthony Nolan Chairty.
After finding out that there is an ex Ambrosian battling stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma who needs a life saving transplant, I like many other people tried to help by donating to The Anthony Nolan charity to help find a match for Martin Solomon.
As I have Ulcerative Colitis I was unfortunately not allowed to donate. As a result I have entered The Chester Half Marathon (Sunday 12th May). I shall be running it with a few work colleagues who have each chosen their own special cause.
This is where I need you guys to help by donating your hard earned money. You will be helping a great cause, you will be pushing me to run a great half marathon and you will feel really good about yourselves for a good 10 minutes after clicking 'confirm'.
Please sponsor me as much as possible and also check out the Anthony Nolan website or the Match 4 Martin Facebook Page for more information about my chosen cause.
