Story

You will all have seen at least some of the news on what is happening in Syria over the past year. It is more than disturbing and sickening to see the torturing and slaughtering of innocent people, especially women and children, even babies. Thousands of people have now been killed during the uprising. Most disturbing is that women and children have also been targetted.

During the summer of 2012 I decided I could not sit back and watch this happen and wanted to do something to help.

AUG 2012 - During Ramadan this year I refrained from eating or drinking anything between the daylight hours. This was a great challenge for me and I was very encouraged by the amount of support I got from people and the donations that were made to Hand In Hand For Syria.  RAISED OVER £1000. THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE THAT DONATED AND SUPPORTED ME.

After continuing to see footage of the trouble in Syria, and learning of the effects it is having on people there I have decided to extend my fundraising. I will be keeping my page open and appeal to everyone to make a donation no matter how small or large, give as much as you can.

The donations will assist in getting much needed humanitarian aid and medical care to the worst hit areas of Syria as well as to refugees who have crossed to Turkey & Lebannon. Hand In Hand For Syria have been doing fantastic work, sending ambulances, food, clothing, surgical equipment and medical care.

Some of the effects of the Syrian Uprising:

- Extreme acts of torture & slaughtering on innocent people
- Thousands of children killed
- More than 35,000 people, mostly civilians have been killed since the outbreak of Syrias anti-regime revolt in March 2011.
- Destruction throughout the country
- Collapsed Economy
- Thousands of people forced to leave their homes and flee to neighbouring countries.
- Thousands of people missing
- Limited medical care for those badly injured
- Schools and hospitals closed or taken over to provide shelter
