Cambodia Community Challenge · 6 October 2018

We're raising funds to help older and younger people gain confidence in the future, whatever challenges they face today.

Story

Hi everyone, this October I will be heading to Cambodia with 40 colleagues from across Santander UK on a life-changing journey to build much-needed classrooms for the Knapor Commune near Siem Reap. I will be living and working alongside the local community. The new build classrooms will help increase the school’s capacity to provide hundreds of children with a brighter future.

Before leaving I have to raise a minimum of £2,000 for Age UK and Barnardo’s.  In doing so I will be supporting some of the most isolated and vulnerable younger and older people here in the UK.

These are two amazing charities;  Age UK is dedicated to helping everyone make the most of late life, by providing advice, companionship and support to millions of elderly. 1 million older people in the UK go an entire month without speaking to anyone they know, this is something I want to help change. Bernardo´s is working to support the most vulnerable, the most neglected, and the most at-risk children and young people. Helping children overcome bullying and loneliness and supporting children to break free form abusive relationship, is the core objectives for the work that Barnardo´s has been doing for the last 150 years.

Any donations are greatly appreciated!

"Education is a fundamental human right and essential for the exercise of all other human rights. It promotes individual freedom and empowerment and yields important development benefits. Yet millions of children and adults remain deprived of educational opportunities, many as a result of poverty.” UNESCO
