I very much regret to say that I have had to postpone my 101 mile walk  in aid of the Dame Vera Lynn Trust for children with Cerebral Palsy,  because of an illness which has been on top of me for a month now. I apparently have an acutely inflamed liver- NOT due to too much alcohol!- which the doctors are trying to pin down. They have virtually ruled out cancer, which is good news for me. I have been allowed to cover the final Test at The Oval but not, alas, to walk more than 25 miles a day as planned.

I fully intend to walk the South Downs Way in aid of this very good cause as soon as I am fit again and can organise around the other commitments of my brother and myself. Again my grateful thanks to those who had promised a gift.
