My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As a new member of staff at Brandon Trust I have been diving into the culture and great atmosphere that makes up Brandon. The Great Weston Ride for me was a chance to get myself back into shape and to prove that I can do anything I want. To explain further this will be my first real challenge of physical fitness whilst managing my diabetes after being diagnosed in September 2010, type 1 (insulin dependent). My younger brother Nicholas is taking part in the ride for moral support and to show me how it's done.

We are both entered for the ride already but if you can help us raise money for this great cause that is Brandon, it will be even more worthwhile. Brandon Trust is a charity based in Bristol working throughout the South West of England, employing nearly 2000 people who support approximately 1500 people with learning disabilities to live the lives they choose.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

So please dig deep and donate now, Chris & Nick.

Wednesday's night training was a disappointing end, after 22 miles I fell off my bike with server cramp. I have been experiencing cramps for the past few weeks but was appearing to lessen with each ride. Spent the rest of the night with cramps after the shame of a taxi ride home.

Still feeling the pain today with exercise/stretches recommended by the doctor to loosen muscles back out.

I have had a warning from the doctor that I have pushed too hard and combined with my poor diabetes control (medication change) the likely hood off a repeat on Sunday is extremely high and in their honest opinion I won’t finish.
