Neuroendocrine Cancer UK exists to support and inform patients and families from diagnosis, enabling access to the best care and treatment, whilst stimulating Neuroendocrine Cancer research, increasing national awareness, and influencing improvements in outcomes.

Story

Last year a colleague of mine, Matt McGurran, was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer, neuroendocrine tumours (NET).  The disease attacks the body's network of glands and organs that produce hormones, and is the same form of cancer as suffered by the Apple founder Steve Jobs.

Matt has been couragiously battling the disease for a year now and so the least I can do to help raise awareness of, and support the fight against, this dreadful disease is by donning a pair of trainers and running (hobbling most likely), 13.1 miles on a rainy Sunday in October.

It was only 13 months ago that we were strapped together to take victory in the 3 legged egg and spoon race for the GAM Olympics (see picture!), and just highlights how quickly this terrible disease can take hold and change lives.
