Epilepsy can develop at any time of your life, at birth, before, during or after puberty or even much later in life, and often due to a host of reasons, maybe complications during pregnancy, a knock to the head, or like in my case simple genetics.
I was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 17 and was experiencing seizures up to twice a week, seizures that would put me in a state unfit for any form of conversation for most of a day.
Lack of understanding and confusion about something as affecting as this as I'm going through 6th form was a tough time for me and my family and friends.
F.A.B.L.E., whom I recommend everyone should at least check out the link for, are there as support in many kinds of ways for people who suffer with epilepsy and the people who are affected by them.
My seizures are now for the most part under control with medication and small lifestyle changes, and I am able to live a very "normal" life. Others aren't often so fortunate, and for this reason I am setting out on this challenge.
The dates are not set in stone, due to changeable weather conditions. However, during August this summer, I will be setting out to complete the 3000 foot peaks of Wales on foot within 24 hours.
