The trustees, and friends, passionately care for others less fortunate; in particular children, which yielded the creation of the DABW Foundation. The charitable trust was formed to develop and support projects, where there was significant need, by carefully considering then financially supporting them, hence the current activity in Africa.

Story

<p>Me a runner? &nbsp;Don't think so: that's what I would have thought a year ago. &nbsp;But not now!! &nbsp;I can run and it feels amazing. &nbsp;</p> <p>I've challenged myself to run 10 miles - yes MILES - in the New Forest run on 10th July.</p> <p>My training is going well. &nbsp;The run isn't affiliated to any particular charity, so I thought I'd choose to raise money to help those less fortunate than us. &nbsp;So, can you spare a pound or two please?</p> <p>Let me tell you a little about the <span style="text-decoration: underline;">DABW Foundation</span>:</p> <p><span style="color: #33cccc;"><strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">It was created by a few friends to lessen the plight of vulnerable and forgotten underprivileged children, mainly in Africa.</span></strong></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color: #33cccc;"><strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">All activity is carried out <span style="text-decoration: underline;">in memory of</span> a beautiful and significant human being, namely Dorothy Wood, a Trustee who sadly died before being able to see the results that the charity&rsquo;s work yields.</span></strong></span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color: #33cccc;"><strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">During its 3+ years of existence, it has provided funding for the following projects in a remote village called Kanyenda in rural Malawi, Africa.</span></strong></span></p> <p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst" style="text-indent: -18.0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1;"><!--[if !supportLists]--><span style="color: #33cccc;"><strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">1<em><span style="font: 7.0pt &quot;Times New Roman&quot;;">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span></em></span></span></strong><!--[endif]--><em><strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">A Fresh Water Well, which was responsible for there being no new cases of childhood Cholera in the village just 6 months after it was commissioned.</span></strong></em></span></p> <p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -18.0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1;"><!--[if !supportLists]--><em><span style="color: #33cccc;"><strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">2<span style="font: 7.0pt &quot;Times New Roman&quot;;">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span></span></span></strong><!--[endif]--><strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Improved facilities at the local school (890 children), with locally manufactured desks, chairs, benches, white boards + easels, books and prizes for students that came top of their class.</span></strong></span></em></p> <p class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="text-indent: -18.0pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1;"><!--[if !supportLists]--><em><span style="color: #33cccc;"><strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">3<span style="font: 7.0pt &quot;Times New Roman&quot;;">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </span></span></span></strong><!--[endif]--><strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 115%;">A Maize Grinding Mill, for the village community to have a small business enterprise and to reduce the great distances the women had to walk to get the maize (corn) ground into flour which is the main ingredient in every meal.
