Maternity Worldwide has a vision of a world in which all women and their babies are able to access safe and appropriate childbirth regardless of where they live. We exist to reduce mortality and injury associated with childbirth in Sub-Saharan Africa where the risk of dying in childbirth is highest.

In March 2012 I will be cycling 320km from Addis Ababa to Gimbie in the Ethiopian hills. This is to raise money for Maternity Worldwide, a charity that is helping to reduce maternal mortality in Africa. Currently 1 in 20 women in Africa die in pregnancy (compared to 1 in 3000 women in the UK). With the correct infrastructure these alarming statistics can be reversed.
