Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity CRED  and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

I am part of a team from Oakmead college of Technology ( My school) fundraising for a trip of a lifetime to help African slum children.

The  team is travelling from Bournemouth (16 students and 2 teachers and members of our local community) to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia to help the charity CRED  run a activity week for children with special needs.

This will be a life changing trip for our students. Some of whom have never travelled or only to minimum destinations.

As a group we will be working with the special needs school run by the Ethiopian Development Agency IHA in Addis Ababa. The charity CRED work alongside the IHA and in addition to education they get involved in all aspects of development and community building. Previously CRED have been helping to build homes complete with running water and simple kitchen and bathrom facilitiies. CRED has learnt that community development has to be holistic, covering all elements of locally felt needs - education, housing, nutrition, care for the elderly , creation of micro- businesss and so on. Therefore engineers work side by side with teachers, doctors and community organisers to ensure that the poor in this part of the city at least get a decent chance of lifting  themselves out off the grind of poverty.

In total the team need to raise over £18,000. Individually that is £1050 each.

Please help me to raise this amount by donating directly to the charity - it's very simple - just a click of a button.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
