Story
I completed my GSR Half marathon yesterday in official time of 02:16:09.
Ran all way, with a stitch from mile 3. Was sick after crossing finish line, then the stitch disappeared!
It was my 1st half marathon, so was still delighted!
GSR was an amazing experience, so many highlights...running across the kingston Bridge, hearing the bagpipes at the mile-markers, kids shouting my name & high-fiving, getting cooled down by garden hoses and a fantastic reception at Glasgow Green!
Thanks again for all your generous donations, It really is much appreciated!
Any late donations will also be much appreciated! ...
My wee godson Brandon won the 'Guess my finishing time' competition. Not quite old enough to enjoy the Moet, but sure his mum and dad will! :)
My brother Colm made the biggest individual donation and my employers also made a significant donation!
I'm really grateful for all donations

I've set myself the challenge of completing the Great Scottish Run Half Marathon on Sunday 5th September 2010, in aid of CLIC Sargent who provide care & support for child and young people with cancer.
Young Mari from our dancing is currently undergoing treatment and hearing from her mum that CLIC Sargent have provided Mari and her family with wonderful care & support reassured me that I’d definitely made the right decision on my choice of charity.
Please visit www.CLICSargent.org.uk to see some of the wonderful care & support that they provide, including:
Clinical Care, Family care, Financial support, CLIC Sargent holidays and Play specialists etc...
I’ve set myself another challenging target to raise £500+ for CLIC Sargent, so I’d really appreciate it if you could make a donation. Each of your generous donations really can make a difference: • £1.50 could pay for a set of colourful storybooks for a child, putting cancer and leukaemia into words and illustrations they can relate to. These are an important way of helping children understand and cope with what’s happening to them. • £8 could pay for a DVD to help prepare a young person with cancer to return to school. It helps them keep up with their studies and deal with the emotional challenges of meeting friends and teachers after their experience. • £15 could pay for some toys to create a fun, comfortable environment for children in one of our Homes from Home, which offer families free self-catering accommodation close to the main regional children’s cancer centres. • £20 could pay for a CLIC Sargent Play Specialist to help a child prepare for and cope with treatment, by using models, toys and photos to explain what will happen. • £32 could pay for a day’s meals for a family of four staying at Malcolm Sargent House – our holiday home on the Ayrshire coast. The house offers family-centered breaks and specialist weekends for young people, siblings, and bereaved families. Everyone there is in a similar situation, making it easy to for them to share their feelings and experiences.Go on, please!!...To make my fundraising for CLIC Sargent a bit more interesting, I’m offering ‘surprise’ gifts to:
*The person who pledges the biggest donation!
*The person who can best guess my finishing time in the Great Scottish Run half marathon (Please enter a finishing time in the comments section when making a donation).
Many thanks,Claire x
8/8/10 [ 4 weeks today until my GSR Half Marathon!
I managed to run 12½ miles earlier today in 2hrs 10min 31 sec, surely I can manage just over an extra ½ mile to get me to 13.1 miles, in 4 weeks time?!
Thanks to all those who have made a donation to CLIC Sargent. It really is much appreciated.]
17/7/10 [50 days until the GSR Half marathon!! Training still progressing well, major achievement last weekend when managed 10miles!... planning another 10miles (with big hill!) tomorrow. If you've not already done so, please donate...otherwise, I will continue to pester for donations over the coming month ;) Thanks x ]
27/06/10 [10 weeks until the GSR half marathon!! Training going well, up to 7miles this week & have managed to keep injury free!...although slight blip in the training a couple of weeks back when had nasty virus that prevented me running while was on holiday, but thankfully recovered now!...next few weeks going to be difficult as into unknown territory with longer distances than ever attempted before...but have to put in the miles to have any chance of completing 13.1miles in september!....your donations really will give me lots of encouragement to keep going!]
