Claire's 'LAA in the Channel' page

Channel relay · 6 September 2019
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Swimming is definitely NOT my favourite sport and it’s been a real mission to start swimming properly over the last eight months - but it wouldn’t be a challenge worthy of inspiring people to donate a little of their hard earned cash for our patients if it was easy!
Swimming in the docks in London and off the coast in kingsdown has been pretty unpleasant in the cold and wet weather! I did cheat a bit with the warm weather in Lanzarote (where I would much rather have just put a pair of running shoes on and run all day!!) -but also managed to swim 30km in the 8 days i had there, which is much more swimming than I've ever done!
Anyway, I think I might have done enough training to feel justified in setting up this justgiving page, with only a few days to go now until our window starts - At the end of this week, sometime between the 6 and 12th September a team of us from LAA along with one of our ex patients are swimming the channel to raise money for our charity.
As part of the operational teams we all know how much difference even getting to one more patient a year makes and if we can get to every patient just a couple of minutes faster we will have the chance to save more lives every day. Please consider sponsoring either me or the team as a whole to swim the channel (cold water, jellyfish and seasickness being just a few of the challenges on the way)! Our future patients and their families will be eternally grafeful and we will definitely be thanking you at the end of a very long cold day on and in the sea!
