We partner with the people of Kabubbu, a rural community in Uganda. Working with our sister NGO, we transform lives by providing funding, lifting many out of poverty via our Primary & High School, Health Centre, Training, Farming School, Tourist Resort, Church/Community Centre & welfare programmes.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As many of you already know, I'm planning a trip to Uganda in March, volunteering for a local Sussex charity called the Quicken Trust. The charity concentrates on working in a rural village in Uganda called Kabubbu. The village is missing a generation, partly due to the AIDS virus and also Cholera, Typhoid and Malaria. Whole groups of children are growing up with incomplete families. The Quicken Trust initially began work with the village orphans in year 2000, and have subsequently set up both a primary and secondary school, water supply, health centre, community housing, adult literacy classes, sponsorship programme and farming initiatives. Their aim is to provide the village with an infra-structure so that the people of Kabubbu can support themselves.

I'm joining a group of other volunteers to work in the village in whatever capacity the charity needs me. I will be paying all of my own costs for the trip, but have been asked to raise £400 to help fund current projects within the community. I appreciate that the credit crunch is hitting home with everyone, and would appreciate any donation, however small. The Trust has a highly ethical guarantee that 100% of any donation received for a specific project will be used, in full, in Kabubbu. Their administration costs are separately funded.

I intend to produce a body of photo documentary work of the trust in action, recording the journey of charity money from donator to beneficiary.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

With many thanks,

Claire X
