Havens Hospices Three Peaks Challenge 2010 · 2 July 2010

When an adult or child has been diagnosed with a complex or incurable condition, Havens Hospices can provide the care they need, ‘Making every day count’. Our specialist Care Teams can support them in the comfort of their own home and through our hospices, Fair Havens and Little Havens.

Story

Well, anyone that knows me will know that I’m more of a heels and handbag girl rather than a walking boots and rucksack one, however I’m are taking part in the National 3 Peaks Challenge on 2nd July to raise money for Havens Hospices. (Which scarily is now only days away!!)

Call me foolish/insane (which seems to be the case as the date draws nearer!), but the aim of the challenge is to complete, in just 24 hours, the ascent of the three highest peaks in Britain:-

Ben Nevis in Scotland - 1,344 metres

Snowdon in Wales - 1,085 metres

Scafell Pike in England - 978 metres

Since starting at Havens Hospices three years ago i've skydived, taken part in fun runs, dressed up in many different costumes (the latest being a bumblebee!) but more importantly i've realised the importance of the hospices and how much the children, adults and families in Essex rely on them.

With running costs of £5.1m, we depend on the generosity of the local community and fundraising events such as the Three Peaks to keep the services up and running.

So for that weekend, i will swap my heels for walking boots, manicured nails for dirty and broken ones and hair straighteners for a "dragged through a hedge backwards" look - and that's got to be worth a donation!!

So please dig deep and support the Charity that is very close to my heart! Every gift no matter what the size is appreciated.
