Story

***** UPDATE *****

I made it to the top and summitted on 3rd November 2011 - see my new photo!

I've passed my target of £500, thank you to everyone who has donated. If you haven't done so already, please do consider donating to a great local charity and let's see just how much I can raise!

Thanks for stopping by!

I should have done it 5 years ago but this is it, I'm going back to Africa to conquer Kilimanjaro!

I didn't know what to set as a fund-raising target. It would be great to meet and exceed £500 if I can. I have paid for everything - flights, equipment, the climb itself, lots of bars of chocolate (purely for energy purposes on the mountain ;)) and the blister plasters, so 100% of what you donate (more if you Gift-Aid!) will go to the Surrey Care Trust.

The Surrey Care Trust helps people in need in some way in Surrey including training and education programmes to help young people and adults improve their lives. Please visit their website www.surreycaretrust.org.uk as this is much better at explaining what the charity is all about!

Please donate if you can, every penny will go to a fantastic cause and give me a little more incentive to make it to the top. Please don't feel obliged to sponsor me, but a word or two of encouragement would also spur me on!

I leave the UK on 27th October 2011 and start the climb on 29th October, hopefully reaching the summit of 5895 metres (or 19,340 feet) early on 3rd November and back to a sensible altitude on 4th November.

Thank you all :-)

PS I won't actually be back in the UK until 3rd December so it will be a little while before you find out whether I made it!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
