Hi All,
The challenge I've set myself is something I've always wanted to do - 1 mile swim across Lake Windermere. So earlier this year whilst sat at my desk on a damp dreary February day, I decided to take action and book a place. It certainly felt a long way until September and I'll have plenty time to train and shed a few pounds (err more than a few) so I would look like a finely tuned athlete running into the Lake!! Hmm how time passes so quickly!!
I am doing this event in memory to my mum Carol Hughes who unfortunately lost her battle with Cancer 8 years ago. She was great mum who lit up the room with her laughter (you could hear her for miles around!). She was so brave and I'll always admire the courage she displayed.
Mum was looked after by some fantastic people at Wakefield Hospice and I would like to in my own small way support them with this fundraising event at Lake Windermere. I will be swimming a mile in the lake on Sunday 13th September at 10.30am.
Can't wait to dive in!
