Story

I completed the London Marathon, no, let me write that again, I completed the London Marathon. Slowly as promised,5hours and 52 minutes  ( including a loo break, the men did not seem to see the point of  wasting time queuing like the women, don't know whether to be appalled or envious of the time saved)and after the 18 mile mark there was more walking than running, but the crowd were fabulous and every encouragement made me run a bit more ,even when my legs were telling me it was time to stop. Thank you to everyone who sponsored me,the target was £1,000 and I think I will make it and some as there are some cheque donations and bits of cash and people who have said they will donate but were may be waiting till after the event  ( not that they lacked faith or anything). So that is great, one runner told me he had calculated his sponsorship to be worth 5p a step and that would keep him going, supporting health care and nurse training in Bangladesh was certainly worth it.  How great such a frivolous event achieved so much good for so many charities.
So many people have said they could never do it but of course you can, so who do I hand the metaphorical baton to?.
Ok I know you want to know did I beat the gingerbread man....well I did beat one but Andrew tells me another got in before me, as did three rhinos and a man with a fridge on his back. I think I beat Lorraine Kelly ( does that count as worth a few more points  more beating a celebrity?) and the man with the angel of the north on his back and about 4,000 others. The other 33,000 or so having managed to slip in before me!!
THANK YOU !!

The Church of Bangladesh supports the Rajshahi Nursing School, which is training young men and women as nurses, providing them with an opportunity to pursue a career in healthcare. Qualified nurses go on to find work in clinics and hospitals, and often they are motivated to serve in rural communities, where healthcare is scarce http://www.uspg.org.uk/article.php?article_id=376
