I am using this opportunity to raise money for a charity called Plan and specifically for their Girls Fund Project. I'd love you to look up the charity on their website (www,plan-uk.org)  as I'm sure you will be hugely impressed by the work they do in many poverty stricken and war torn countries. But in brief Plan UK aim to improve the education, health and well being of disadvataged children by implementing community projects, these may be projects lasting 10 to 12 years. The Girls Fund that I have selected focuses on assisting girls in Liberia. Girls can be subject to discrimination both socially and culturally. Often in poor countries girls are removed from education to assist in household chores or to supplement family income. Girls in Liberia were kidnapped, forced to take up arms, used as sex slaves and denied their rights and always remain at the bottom of the social ladder. Research shows that education is one of the most important ways of helping comminities progress and girls are more likely to use the education to benefit the communities health care practices and are more active members of the community. The project in Liberia aims to help 550 girls by giving them a safe, clean learning environment. The hope is that they will develope skills and knowledge to build a better future for themselves, the family and community.

I am funding all the costs of my Trek so you can be assured that any money you donate will ALL go directly to Plan. I do hope you will feel comfortable in donating to this project and I am extremely grateful for any donation you feel you can make.
