<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">In February 2010, our eight year old daughter, Hannah, lost her brave 18 month fight against Cancer.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Two local Sussex Charities, <strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Chestnut Tree House (Registered Charity No: 256789)</strong> and <strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Children With Cancer Fund (CWCF) (Registered Charity No: 1110644)</strong>, provided essential support to Hannah and our family, enriching the quality of life for Hannah and providing special memories for us all to cherish.</span> </p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: "Arial","sans-serif"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;">In order to raise funds so that the two Charities may continue to provide valuable support to Sussex children with life-limiting illnesses, we are organising a <strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Charity Family Race Afternoon </strong>to be held on<strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"> Saturday, 28<sup>th</sup> May 2011</strong> (at Knoyle Hall, St John’s Church, Knoyle Road, Brighton). All funds raised will be divided equally between <strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Chestnut Tree House</strong> and <strong style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">Children With Cancer Fund (CWCF)</strong>. </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Chestnut Tree House is the only children’s hospice in Sussex and cares for local children and young people (from birth to 19 years of age) with progressive life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses such as Muscular Dystrophy, Cystic Fibrosis, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, multiple disabilities, cancer and progressive genetic disorders.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Sadly, children affected by these conditions will probably die before they reach adulthood.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Chestnut Tree House offers support for the whole family including psychological support, care in bereavement therapy, end of life and respite care and sibling support. <br /> <br /> The hospice costs over £2 million per year to run. Families are not charged for their care and the hospice receives very little government funding so it relies almost entirely on the generosity, help and support of the people of Sussex.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Arial","sans-serif";">Chestnut Tree House provided a home from home with special love and care for Hannah and our family and they have continued to provide on-going bereavement support.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We were given the opportunity to summarise the very special and essential role that Chestnut Tree House played during Hannah’s illness and you can see this in a video on the Chestnut Tree website at:</span></p>
