Welcome to my JustGiving page.
Update 3 May
Day 1- St Bee's to Ennerdale Bridge - harder going than expected, especially with the rain, but we made it to Ennerdale Bridge in ok time.
Day 2- Ennerdale Bridge to Borrowdale - another long day. Ennerdale Water was lovely, but then the rain started and the trek along the river was long. Arrived at Black Sail youth hostel (must be one of the remotest) for a late lunch - and a welcome relief to have some shelter when it chucked it down with hail. And they also had some yummy flapjacks! Then it was a hike up Loft Beck (supposedly the steepest bit of the whole C2C) and across bog in the rain. By the time we reached Borrowdale at 7pm I was longing for a cup of tea and hot shower.
Day 3 - Borrowdale to Grasmere - the shortest day mile wise. The sun shone and it was good to only be doing 10 miles! Even managed to make it to Grasmere for tea and cake!
Day 4 - We are about to set off for Patterdale, another shortest day although we are planning on trying one of the high routes along St Sunday Crag so could be more tricky. Feet are sore, but rest of me ok!
Previous Update
From Friday I'll be walking 197 miles from the west coast of England to the east coast (over two weeks). I've done some training but I know it's not going to be easy - particularly if (when!) it rains. I would love to raise loads of money for Rianna's Fund which provides help and support to underprivileged children around the world - their lives are not easy 24/7.
Rianna's Fund was established following the tragic death of six year old Rianna from a fallen tree in Ashtead. Over the last six years the fund has helped orphans in Kenya, provided new schools in Uganda and a children's home in Mumbai. With your help they can do even more. I'd like to raise £1,970 - £10 for each mile I walk.
I'll be following Wainwright's route which goes from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood's Bay (south of Whitby) and will be walking from Friday 30 April to Friday 14 May (with one rest day).
