Story
As you may have noticed the race I'm running has changed. I unfortunately had to pull out of the Virgin London Marathon 2013 in February of 2013. After completing a 19 mile run, I experienced pain in my shin and after visiting the physio, was diagnosed with a stress fracture which meant no weight-bearing activity for 3 months.
So after 3 months of swimming I am slowly getting back into running again, trialling a new running style to avoid this injury again. I will keep you updated on my progress and will start training again shortly so I am definitely ready for the marathon in 2014!
Hi everyone!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.
I am running the Virgin London Marathon on 21st April 2013 for the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust. CHECT is the only charity which serves the retinoblastoma (Rb) community in the UK, funding research and tirelessly raising awareness of this fast-growing eye cancer that develops in children under 5. Children diagnosed with Rb are also subsequently at a higher risk of developing second primary cancers later in life.
This is a scary and challenging leap from the half marathons I have run so far! However, I'm confident I'll be ready by following a punishing training schedule through the cold hard months of winter (maybe donate a bit extra when you're reading this warm at home on your computer...I'm probably running around in the cold somewhere).
So please dig deep and donate what you can, it's for a fantastic cause and I really appreciate your support and generosity.
Thank you!
