Hi Everyone thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.
As you may all know by now I am one of the lucky few who has been selected to take their place on the 4th plinth in Trafalgar Square. My time slot is Saturday 1st August at 12 noon to 1pm, will it be busy??
However some of you may not know that it was actually my brother Martin who nominated me and I am in fact scared of heights and not a person who would normally do this sort of thing without a larger group of people. Therefore standing up there is not going to be as easy as it seems. Despite this I am still taking part and I am going to use my time to promote the well deserved charity Maternity Worldwide. People who know me know I am a Mummy and a midwife so I have an obvious interest in the charity. I work at Wythenshawe Hospital with midwives who themselves go to Africa with Maternity Worldwide to help teach and share their expertise. The stories they have to tell are often heart breaking and do not always have happy endings. I want every person reading this page to think about their sister, wife, cousin, friend or colleague who is pregnant or has given birth and think how lucky we are to be able to take our maternity services for granted.
As a midwife I am very lucky, I have all the equipment I need to hand to enable me to provide safe and excellent care and if I pull a bell help comes in the form of many many skilled professionals with even more equipment. This is why I have chosen to support Maternity Worldwide, and that is why despite my fear I will be letting that cherry picker take me up to the 4th plinth and I will be standing in front of all the tourists on a predictably busy Saturday afternoon in Trafalgar Square. So please support me by digging deep and sponsoring my time up there in aid of Maternity Worldwide. You will be able to watch me do this event live at the time on www.oneandother.co.uk
Thanks Clare xxx
