Many of you will have previously supported me in fundraising for Football Gambia in 2012/13 and I am forever grateful for the enthusiasm and kindness you showed for this venture. As you may be aware I was not personally able to go on the trip in January 2013 for health reasons, but your donations will have made a MASSIVE difference to the work that was undertaken by my colleagues on their trip. 

In January 2014 I will have another opportunity to travel out to Gambia  and this time there will be a number of different projects undertaken by the organisation, including... 

> Medical Centre Development - creating a solar panelling system to provide electricity to the building that was set-up in 2013. 

> Sustainable agricultural provision - creating an irrigation system to sustain the growth of the current land.

> Building an Aventure Playground - building play facilities for the children of Sittanunku. 

> Children & Young People's Projects - providing a varied programme fo teacher training, football coaching, first aid training and school curriculum development to enhance the quality of services delivered to children and young people. 

Football Gambia as an organisation...

Football Gambia is a small non-profit UK Charity, which promotes education through football in the Gambia (West Africa). Working with communities, football clubs, academies and schools to help children and youth attend school and live a healthy lifestyle.

Football Gambia is not just about football...the main goal is to educate the children of the Gambia. Providing educational materials, text books, notepads, pencils etc to nurseries and schools, all over the country, as well as developing the education system with the 'right tools' to enhance their children and young people. As a medium to encourage studying, the charity also provides the children with quality football equipment and they receive professional football coaching.

Previous success in Gambia...

Over the past two years colleagues of mine have travelled to villages in the North of Gambia to carry out some valuable work with Football Gambia and the local community. As a result of their voluntary work they successfully helped the village members to set up a farm and agricultural area in order to grow crops all year round and have established a nursery school, in addition to carrying out valuable activities to enhance the educational experiences - both formal and informal - of children and young people in the areas. 

Your donation in support of this charity and of my personal challenge as I walk the 87 miles (139km) across The Ridgeway is greatly appreciated and I very much look forward to embarking on this very worthy project once again :)
