erging world record attempt · 29 October 2016

Clare College is the second oldest College in Cambridge University. It is a progressive and informal College with an emphasis on academic excellence and access to education for students from all social backgrounds.

Story

Clare Boat Club (CBC) and its members have supported me tremendously over the past couple of years. Due to the support I could be part of the winning boat race crew for the 2015 lightweight boat race, get blades with M1 in May Bumps 2016, row at Henley Royal Regatta 2016 and break my first world record about a month ago. More importantly while achieving all of this, I also had fun and made friends! For my erging mania, CBC have even invested in two brand new ergometers and I hope to raise an  equivalent amount of money (£1720) towards the new men's VIII, so that M1 has a competitive boat to challenge for headship come May Bumps 2017.

Additional funds beyond the target will be split between the VIII and kit subsidies. By making rowing affordable CBC enables a wide variety of students to join the sport and enjoy it at many levels. I personally enjoyed the benefits of the policies to make CBC as inclusive as possible and would like to support this corner stones of the club's philosophy.
