What is CMT?
Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) is the most common hereditary neuropathy in the world, affecting millions worldwide; it is named after the three doctors who discovered it.  All forms of CMT can result in muscle wasting and a decrease in motor and sensory function.

Symptoms of CMT

• Very high arches
• Hammertoes
• Foot drop
• Fatigue
• Clumsiness
• Awkward gait
• Burning sensation in hands and feet
• Pins and needles and numbness
• Hand cramps & leg cramps
• Loss of balance
• Tripping and falling
• Weak ankles and other weaknesses in extremities
• Decreased ability to stoop, squat, kneel, jump, climb, or run
• Difficulty grasping and holding objects and opening jars and bottles

CMT has affected my life in a big way, I have limited mobility as well as chronic pain and tiredness. One place that has provided ongoing support is the charity CMT UK. This is who I am raising money for.

How?

Claude is our resident dinosaur and he has kindly agreed to help us raise money and awareness. For a donation of £5 (suggested) he will be sent to you in his own little box. When he arrives, the idea is you take some pictures of him and post them on your social networking sites including information about this page and CMT - you can also write a message in his travel diary if you wish.

This is all geared towards raising vital awareness. Who can resist a fluffy dinosaur after all? When you've taken pics and updated his diary, you send him off to the next destination for another adventure. We want to see how far Claude can travel, after all, those suffering with CMT are largely unable to travel with ease. We'd love to collect some fun photos of Claude and most importantly raise as much awareness and funding as we can :-)
