I would be really chuffed if you sponsored me to run this ridiculous distance for a great cause. Each time someone does, I can't tell you how it spurs me on inside.

I decided to start training after Christmas so I wouldn't get injured and kicked things off with a muddy 5km race on Boxing Day in Turner's Hill. I've since started a new job and been enjoying exploring the city / countryside combination that Barnes has to offer on my runs. I've been mixing this up with spin classes, swims and hikes.

The longest I have run is 20miles and I did a race in Goring (aka Boring Goring to my dad!) last month. It was four laps so I know in my head now that the marathon is basically only one more of those laps. They felt long, but on the day, with the crowd, a few energy gels, handful of jelly babies, cheesy music and seeing all the settings for the Olympics will help. Perhaps Rob will pick me up at the end at Buckingham Palace in a trolley too?! I felt nauseous for at least a week after the 20miler so need to make sure I have enough salt (?). I have also done a couple of 10km races recently.

If you have seen me recently you'll be familiar with me popping out for a run from your house too ~ Ben & Rachel up in Leeds, Kara & John in Sheffield, Philip & Alison in Sheffield, Rob's in New Cross Gate, right near the panoramic Blackheath & Greenwich Park. It's always great to try a new area and thanks for the showers. Thanks too for all the bits of advice and support people have given esp. Jill re: tapering; Karla about drinking lucozade the week before and after; Mum and Dad getting into the whole making me pasta and coming to watch, and Rob about mixing running with other things.

Its all about resting now though. My BBS kit is only arriving next week so I'll need to make sure it's not going to rip me up somehow ~ perhaps just wear it around and do a short run.

The Monday after is going to be interesting in a three story house and nannying two boys ha ha.
