Story
Having completed a number of runs for STEPS, I was looking for my next challenge.
As I reach my 40th year on this planet, I've been thinking about ways I can raise funds for STEPS. There are no other bigger tasks than climbing Kilimanjaro and running the London Marathon.
STEPS is a small charity for conditions that are so common. It's helped us personally and I want to repay them by raising as much as I can.
It's a difficult challenge, apparently only 50% make it right to the peak, mainly due to the altitude sickness. There's a lot of preparation with building stamina, all the long distance training, getting all the equipment, as well as being away from my family whilst I'm there, that in itself I will find extremely hard.
So surely this is worth a few pounds in donation, to a charity that is not only personal to us, but also helpful and supportive to thousands of other parents every year. I can't say how important they were to us when we found out about Will's condition. They will be to others.
