Story

Approximately 6 couragous members of the Royal Mail's delivery office in Buxton (including Colin Tym) will be cycling 100 Miles coast to coast from Maryport to New-Biggin on the 29th August. The last time they did this they were very successful in raising a large amount of money and hope to be able to do the same again, with your help.

All donation made will go directly to Blythe House Hospice in Chapel-en-le-Frith.

Blythe House is a purpose built day care hospice located in Chapel-en-le-Frith in the heart of the Peak District.  The hospice is unique in that it provides the only specialist palliative care day care service in the High Peak for people affected by cancer and other life threatening illnesses, their carers and families.

In spite of the vital role played by hospices in the UK, Blythe House has to find more than two-thirds of their funding from voluntary contributions. The services that they provide are free to the user but not cost free.  Their annual costs of £500,000 are partially supported by the local Primary Care Trust, but the outstanding amount must be raised from voluntary donations and fundraising events.  The fundraisers need to raise £1000 per day to meet the current needs and the ever-expanding requirements for the services.
