Richmond's Hope supports children & young people from Edinburgh, Midlothian, Fife, East Lothian, Glasgow & surrounding areas who have been bereaved. We provide children with a safe place to work out their grief through verbal/non verbal ways and provide individual programmes of care for each child.

Story

FINISHED! Having had a cold in the lead-up, I was a bit apprehensive about the run. Started well with under 8-minute miles then was struggling by the time I hit the 4-mile mark. Took Pete's advice and slowed down. Got to the 10k mark around 50.5 minutes (on my watch) and that spurred me on. Pace was steadily slowing but was delighted to get to the top of Queens drive (8-mile) and feel that I had a bit energy. Picked up the pace a little again then felt the legs struggling around 11.5 miles. Finished in a time of 1:51:35. A little slower than I'd have liked but feel that it's stiill a respectable time!

Got the lift up the two flights of stairs this morning.

Thanks to all donors for helping me reach my target.

My family has long been a supporter of this charity and I would like to help them to raise much needed funds this year.

Richmond's Hope began in 2003 in the Niddrie area of Edinburgh and is based in Richmond Craigmillar Church. We work in a purpose built playroom where children and young people are helped to rebuild their lives after the death of someone they loved.

Aims

To make Richmond's Hope a place where bereaved children can work through their grief and have the support, information and help to allow them to manage the impact of death in their lives;

To enable the children to express and understand their emotions, and work through their grief using verbal and non verbal ways, in the safe environment of Richmond's Hope;

To increase bereaved children's self esteem by enabling them to meet others and share experiences;

To increase public understanding of the social, practical and emotional needs of bereaved children, their families and other caregivers;

To create individual programmes of care for each child (Each child's grief is different);

To be a project in which local people, carers, schools and other agencies will have complete confidence

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
