Story

We are a team from Coloplast taking part in the Walk4Matt 2012. Our team of 8 will join others to travel the 110 miles from Rugby to Twickenham along the canal towpath, reaching Twickenham on the day of the Premiership Final. Most of the team will walk but a couple of members will have the important task of making sure the narrowboat arrives in the correct place every day so we all have somewhere to sleep.

Matt Hampson's life changed one day in 2005 when he was injured in a collapsed scrum whilst training with the England U21 Rugby team. One day he was an international athlete, the next he was paralysed from the neck down. Matt now spends much of his time fundraising for people with spinal injuries, particularly young people whose injuries are sports related.

A couple of months ago Matt came and gave us a talk about his experiences. He is an inspirational character, full of life and driven by a desire to help others who are often better off than he is. We’ve been lucky enough to get the chance to do this walk with the help of Coloplast and we'd really like to raise as much as possible to make a difference.
