Three and a half years ago my second daughter was born profoundly deaf. Though we know now she has a genetic condition, Pendred syndrome and Mondini malformation, at the time this came as shock. Una and I have travelled, and continue to travel, many new roads as we learn more about her challenges and the NDCS and its local branch have been a big support to us. What's more, they stand up to the powers that be and ask them not to cut services which will steal futures from children like Una. With support, these children can do as well as every other child. Everyone who knows Una and I will know that firstly I dont do sport and secondly, Una is amazing - this is why im going to cycle approx. 450km - because if she can overcome all her challenges, so can I.
