Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We all work at Perth and Kinross Council in The Environment Service,  with the majority of us working within Waste Servces.   Last year one of our friends and colleagues, Tanya Hay, was diagnosed with breast cancer and went on to undergo both surgery and chemotherapy.  Around the same time, a group of us were looking for some kind of challenge to spur us on to better levels of fitness, and somehow this snowballed into all of us agreeing to take part in Maggie's Monster Bike & Hike on 30th April 2011.

The team is of varying ages and levels of fitness, so this challenge will really be the making of us.  Tanya and her husband have both agreed to join us in our challenge and in total we are hoping to raise around £10,000 for Maggies Centres.  To increase the pressure, Maggie's have asked us to be the subjects of their promotional video for their website, and will be following us all closely during our training and the event.  The Courier have also asked to run a training blog focusing on our efforts and progress.

The Monster Bike & Hike is an epic 24hr event, starting at Fort William and following the Great Glen Way to Inverness.  This comprises a 32 mile bike ride from Neptune's Staircase to Fort Augustus  - followed by an 8 miles hike to the Bronze finish, a 22 mile hike to Silver or the full 43 mile hike to the Gold finish at Inverness.

Please dig deep and donate generously to this great cause, and support us in our efforts to not only finish the event, but do so within 24 hours.  Thank You.
