Story

Firstly we (Dean Hague, Paul Fletcher, Pete McMillian, Paul Binnie and Rob Short) would like to say thanks for taking the time to visit one of our Courageous Peloton JustGiving Pages.

What are we doing:

Over the period 11 - 18 June 2010, 5 intrepid (some would say slightly mad) individuals will be cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats.  This is an 875 mile (could be a lot more, I've seen some of their navigation skills) and to complete it over 8 days will be, shall we say arduous, with rides of over 110 miles on some days.

Why Courageous Peloton?

Courageous Peloton is the name given to our money raising event.

Courageous (not deterred by danger or painPeloton (group of cyclists) - now it makes sense!

Why?

As the challenge draws closer, we are asking the very same question.  It is not only to give us a huge personal challenge but also raise awareness and financial support through your kind donations of the Army Widows Association.

The Army Widows' Association was formed by a group of Army widows in 2004.It aims to offer support and friendship to those who have sadly lost their husband/wife or recognised partner at any stage of their bereavement through mutual empathy, experiences and by signposting new members to other sources of help at such a difficult time in their lives. The AWA offers its support to all widows bereaved since 1981, death can have been as a result of many reasons: illness, RTA, conflict, suicide, training accidents. We hold an annual weekend and other events where widows can meet up, meet others who are in the same situation as themselves, find out lots of information, raise issues and are developing a network of smaller Regional meetings to improve our support.
