Story
‘Torture makes the news every day, but what about the individual stories behind the headlines?’
On 23rd June (the final day of Refugee Week in the UK) I will be taking part in the Bupa Great North 10k to raise money for Freedom from Torture. This wonderful organisation provides support to victims of torture to help them rebuild their lives. They work with refugees and asylum seekers in the UK, and have a dedicated team right here in the North East. At a recent event I met members of the organisation's Survivors Speak OUT network, a group of incredible individuals who speak about their experiences of moving to the UK. Their amazing dedication made me realise that I needed to do something to help too.
Any donation you can make, no matter how small would be greatly appreciated to help me reach my target of £100. This could help provide a month of counselling sessions for a survivor of torture.
Thank you!
