Story
Thank you for taking the time to read my page and helping me to raise money for this fantastic charity - Kick4Life (www.kick4life.org)
I will be taking part in various challenges to raise money for Kick4Life, having already run in two events this year and participated in a 24-hour football marathon match. I ran the Nike British 10K in July, as well as having run the Great South Run in Portsmouth in October.
I now have set my sights on participating in another British 10K and a half marathon, as well as organising a charity football tournament in May, amidst other things.
Please donate generously.
More information on Kick4Life:
Kick4Life were founded in 2005 and have since focused their efforts in Lesotho in southern Africa, delivering a range of projects focused on tackling HIV through sports-based health education, voluntary testing, life-skills development and support into education and employment. Lesotho has the third highest HIV prevalence in the world and more than 100,000 children have been orphaned by the disease.
Lesotho has the world's third highest prevalence of HIV with more than 23.2% of the population infected with the virus. This has had a devastating impact on life expectancy, on family structures and on the economy.
Hundreds of thousands of children have been orphaned by the disease, and many young people live unsupported on the streets vulnerable to poverty, crime, ill-health, prostitution and with a lack of hope for the future. Since 2007 Kick4Life has delivered a health and education programme aimed at transforming the lives of orphans and vulnerable children.
- 25,000 youth have been reached through the K4L Curriculum.
- 8,000 youth have been tested for HIV with more than 350 referred to ongoing medical treatment and support.
- Hundreds of orphans and vulnerable children regularly take part in the Maseru Street League.
- More than 350 volunteer role models have been trained to deliver the K4L Curriculum.
- £10 enables Kick4Life to deliver health education and HIV testing to one child in Lesotho. If they test positive they are referred to treatment and ongoing support.
- £50 pays for a child living on the streets to be supported into an orphanage.
- £100 buys 40 footballs for Kick4Life programmes, giving thousands of disadvantaged youth the chance to enjoy sport.
Kick4Life are a charity making a real difference in an impoverished country.
Thank you for your support,
Craig
