Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses – who we continually support and develop – provide life-changing care for families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Dementia is a very complex illness and one that I'm sure has touched us all in some shape or form. Around 820,000 people in the UK today have a form of dementia and this is set to rise to over a million by 2025. Dementia UK is a national charity committed to improving quality of life for all people affected by dementia, with particular emphasis on supporting carers.

Over the past few years I witnessed first-hand how the illness can effect someone. My dear old Nan suffered with it right up until her death in February 2012. The photo on the profile page is her with my daughter (her great grand-daughter). One of my favourites images.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. But remember, if you wish to donate by cash or cheque you can do so as well.

Any donation, large or small, will be welcomed with open arms. This charity addresses something which may affect any of us at any time, and I hope you too will feel strongly enough to lend me your best possible support. It all adds up and goes towards a wonderful cause.
