***UPDATE***16 September 2009***

Back home now after arriving in John O'Groats on Sunday and travelling back on Monday

(The man at Preston train station couldn't understand why I was willing to wait 90 minutes for a train home to Ormskirk when I could have cycled it in less time...)

Trip distance came in short at 901 miles for the 9 days having changed the route when I got over the border into Scotland to avoid some of the worst of the hills.  Even still, the ascent came in at just over 58,000 feet compared with the estimated 37,000 feet

Legs feel great, tan is good but knees and other areas are sore...

Thanks for all the support and sponsorship - I'll let you know how much we manage to raise shortly as there is still a lot coming in

Craig

***END***

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have taken on the mammoth challenge of cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats - on my Own! Eight hours a day in the saddle, for nine continuous days, 964 miles and 37,000 feet of climbing. The challenge will be tough with some pretty steep inclines en route - and of course the Great British weather to keep me company.

I want to raise money for a fantastic charity called Save the Family.

To tell you about Save the Family in a nutshell….they keep families together once they have been made homeless ( whatever the reason ) otherwise the government after 28 days will take the children away from their parents and put them into care, even if there has been no abuse issue!

Once in the care system it is normally, I am afraid to say, a downward spiral for the children. They stop going to school, get involved with drink, drugs and perhaps get abused themselves while in care.

Save the Family is the only charity in the UK that will take “the whole family  into care” and work on the issues that made them homeless, so they are able to settle back into the community.

They need to raise £1000 a day to continue the vital work they do in keeping

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
