What is UK All Star Weekend?

UK All Star Weekend is a charity event, held this year in Ice Arena Wales in Cardiff. It’s an event that has been organised by hockey fans to raise money for some incredible charities. It’s a tournament weekend culminating in a Final match up on the last day. Each team in the tournament represents the charity that they are raising money for. Essentially this a group of hockey lovers getting together, playing some hockey, having fun and most importantly raising a tonne of money for some incredible charities.

This year I have the huge honour of representing Ty Hafan.

If you think that Ty Hafan is just a place where children come to die, you could not be more wrong. Ty Hafan is an amazing organisation that ensures every life-limited child and young person in Wales lives a full family life, helping these families to create precious memories that they will be able to cherish forever. And if the sad day comes when a child does die, Ty Hafan continues to provide support for the families during these difficult times.

These wonderful people are caring for an increasing number of life-limited children and their families. Therefore, we are skating for this worthy cause, raising awareness and money to enable these people to keep making a difference to these families lives. Even if it is a short life, these people help make it a full life. But they need our support to be able to carry on their invaluable work.

What are we aiming to do?

This year, our team target is to #MakeMoreMusic by raising £27,000 to pay for a full year of Music Therapy at Ty Hafan.

I’m very much looking forward to doing my bit at this wonderful event and have the amazing opportunity to raising as much money as I can by using the sport that I love. Working with a great group of hockey lovers I'm confident we can smash our target! 

With the tournament being in July, it gives us a little over 6 months to fundraise. I have some fundraising events planned so keep an eye out for my updates! I'm also looking forward to meeting some of the wonderful people who are the heart of this organization.

So dig deep, anything you can give will be greatly appreciated and you can be assured that the money you donate will be used to ensure that every short life is a full life.
