HMS Ltd sponsored trek against Children's Arthritis · 21 September 2012

The Childrens Arthritis Trust supports Great Ormond Street Hospital and University College Hospital London to improve the care and treatment of children and young people with arthritis. Our goal is to strengthen the medical team by the provision of dedicated specialists in nursing and physiotherapy; and support staff to enable doctors to administer new and novel treatments to better manage the disease.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 21st of Septmber 2012 myself and my friend Dan Titmus are to embark on a journey to the roof of the world, to the Base Camp of Mount Everest in Nepal, in aid of the Children's Arthritis Trust.

When I was a child I suffered from Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (J.R.A.) in my knee joints. This auto-immune disorder is particularly painful for kids and can really affect their quality of life. I was told by the doctors when I was a kid that this condition could just dissapear in my teenage years, and I may never hear from it ever again. Or it could return later in life...

About 3 years ago I began to suffer from excruciating pain in my eyes, and blurred vision. The doctors at St James' Hospital in Leeds diagnosed the problem as Acute Anterior Iritis which is severe inflammation of the iris, and prescribed an injection of the steroid Prednisalone into my eyes, and a course of the Prednisalone tablets. This is when I discovered that my arthritis had returned and come back to get me. After about a year my condition had stabilised, but I'm still susceptible to another attack at any time. But I am one of the lucky ones !!!

So I know only too well how this nasty condition can affect children. So please, please, pretty please, make a donation to the Children's Arthritis Trust today. Just as much as you can afford. All donations are gratefully recieved with much appreciation. Thank you !

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
