My name is Sgt Christopher (Spock) Howells.  I am a Sergeant serving in the Royal Air Force Police, and have served nearly 25 yrs and am currently employed at Tactical Police Wing at RAF Henlow, Bedfordshire.

My wife and I have three children, twin girls who were born on 17 Jan 06; unfortunately one was diagnosed with Myotonic Dystrophy, as well as this my son Rhys who was born on 17 Jun 10, who along with my wife have been diagnosed with the same condition.  Myotonic Dystrophy is a muscle disease to which there is no cure and can affect people in a variety of different forms these can range from developmental delay, heart problems as well as cataracts.

I, along with a group of four of my colleagues, plan to cycle the coastal roads of Wales Starting at Queensferry North Wales travelling across to Llandudno and on to Caernarfon, Porthmadog, Aberystwyth, Cardigan, Fishguard, St Davids, Llanelli, Swansea, Bridgend, Cardiff, Newport, finishing at Chepstow castle on the river Wye.

We are planning to complete this arduous challenge in May 2011; we envisage that it should take about 4 days to complete a journey of approximately 440 miles.  This would consist of each team member cycling 25 miles in 2 hrs each day with that distance being covered by the team amounting to 125 miles per day.

The money would be used to help the Myotonic Dystrophy Campaign disseminate information.  This would be in the form of pamphlets providing information on this disease, also it would assist in giving much needed support to families with children who have recently been diagnosed with this disease.  They also provide grants to those families that require home improvements to assist with making life easier at home, and they also provide money for research into this disease to try and find a cure, as there is no known cure at this time.

Thank you for taking the time view my JustGiving page but please, give generously.
